Lidl Digital Satellite Receiver

Excuses the daft question.
But does anyone know how the satellite receiver advertised on the Lidl web page http://www.lidl.co.uk/gb/index.nsf/pages/c.o.oow.20040819.p.Digital_Satellite_Receiver can pick up Pre-programmed satellites: Astra, Astra II, Eutelsat, Hotbird, Türksat, Hellasat, Sirius and Hispasat with out a movable dish? :/
Thanks in advance

Receiver Only

Dish Extra £14.99 LNB Not included

Most dishes are fixed & pointing at one satellite only ie Astra II, I had a 80cm dish that had 2 LNBs offset slightly, pointing at Astra & Hotbird (gave up with HB & moved it to point at D2MAC satellite instead).

They are just saying whats available to be received, so where you point it to is up to you, but to get it to track other satellites you will need additional kit (positioner & actuator etc). To use it on non free to view channels you may also need to obtain Conditional Access Modules or decoders.

Apologies for any errors that may have crept in - Havent looked at anything Sat related in about 4 years.

Depends on what you want, if you need a replacement box its fine, buts its not a Sky digibox.

This receiver is strictly a `Free To Air` box..there is no Common Interface facility, so using it in conjunctionm with any kind of CAM/Viewing card would be impossible.

I believe it is an `autosearch` receiver though, so anyone who has a motorised set up, this could be an interesting option. Most receivers need 3 or even 4 pieces of info to be able find a channel, Frequency, Polarity, Symbol Rate and occasionally FEC (Some will use an `auto ` setting for the FEC). I understand that this receiver only needs a frequency and polarity to lock onto a signal. This type of receiver has been growing in popularity in the multi-sat community in recent years..makes it a lot easier to search for live feeds..etc.
