Answer yes, you will have to find out what type, i.e. mmc, sd, xd, compact flash though i think the jvc`s are mmc or sd. You will have to do a search to find where the cheapest are though you will be spoilt for choice. it will probably take upto a 128mb card but to be on the safe side see what it says in the manual. Try amazon, ebuyer or even ebay i bought two 128 cards 40 notes a while back.

according to the manual, it is meant to come with an 8mb sd card, but i am unsure if bigger memory cards would be ok

What`s the camera model, maybe we can check the specs on the JVC website. They usually have the manuals in pdf form on most manufacturers sites.

Hi i have the manual, the model is gr-dvp7
RE: can i use any memory card with my mini dv cam?
I could only find the manual for the GR-DVP9 and 8. The 7 must be an older model, but I guess it`s similar. It says the 9 uses Secure Digital or MMC cards. No maximum size specified, so I guess you can use any.
I got a Kingston 256mb SD card from Dabs a few weeks ago for £25. I think they`ve gone up slightly now to about £30 as it was on offer when I got it. Still a good price now though. :)
