has anyone ever tryed using a normal front speaker for a centre speaker?
was it any good?
reason i ask is that i can get hold of a vcheap pair of mission 700s which i could use 1 of for a centre speaker to match my 701 fronts.
is this feasible?
it seems to have similar freq. response to 70c1 centre speaker.

cheers

It is always best to keep to speakers of the same make as they will be more sonicaly matched, however are the 700`s screened. If not you will not be able to put them anywhere near your telly as the magnets in them will distort the picture and may even damage the tube if left too close too long. The screening is part of the reason that a centre speaker on its own can cost as much as a pair of speakers.
