is there any way to disable macrovision on my DVD player

Unless your player does have a firmware version 2.17 or 2.18 the answer is no. you can see the version number on the setup menu, go down to the second setup screen and all the way down and once more down to see the version.
Let me know if it is a version below 2.18.
