confused newbie

hi
i recorded a disc from a vhs tape on a panasonic dmr-e55
it played back ok but when i tried it on another stand alone player it said bad disc.and when i tried it on pc it said windows doesnt
recognise disc. i used cheap 25p dvd-r discs could that be my problem.this was my first try at doing this.

1, Did you finalise the disc. 2, use only top brands, Verbitam, TDK & so on or if useing cheaper brands make sure it`s the latest Ritek Dye. Don`t waste your money or time on the others.

Sounds to me like you need to finalise the disk - until then it will only be readable on the recorder you "made" the disk on. Once you`ve finalised it (which only takes a couple of minutes) you can play it on other players/PCs etc. In your manual you should see summat about finalising disks.
