I need some help on buying a Dolby Digital Amplifier

timbleuk (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 25th April 2004, 10:32

I currently have a Kenwood KRFV7030D but I want to upgrade to 6.1..
I have approx £300 (£350 at a stretch) to spend on a new amp. I want it to be 6.1 and all that ES and Prol Log 2 and all that carry on. IT MUST have Super VHS monitering (so I can run all me consoles through it) and it must be silver (how gay is that? missus for ya!)
I nearly bought this one, but the review was a bit pooey!
Yamaha DSP-AX640SE: £399.95

So what do ya reckon I should get. All advise and opinions appreciated!

I cant remember where I read the review but it slated it. Ive just had a look for it again on tinterner bit as always, u can never find summat when you want it.
Its certainly a nice looking machine (so the wife will like it) but they said it struggled. If I find the review I`ll add it to this thread.
