Page 1 of anyone heard of Roksan Kandy dvd players?

I`m looking to upgrade my DVD player and I`ve found a Roksan Kandy player for £250 reduced from £599. I`ve been on the website, and it seems this manufacturer is quite well respected in terms of audio, but I`m a bit in the dark when it comes to dvd`s.

I have no idea about their dvd players but their cd players are up their with the best in the world. I think the 42%ers the main man to ask. I reckon you might have stumbled across an absolute bargain.....

I have that feeling too! Who or what is 42%ers? I await his response!!

I read a report on one of these a while back.
I was curious as I thought that name must have been a mickey-take !
It said DVD playback was nothing particularly earth-shattering, but the CD playback was outstanding.

Its generally well known that DVD player`s are crap at playing CD`s even high end ones when compared to similarly priced dedicated CD players. I understand that the Kandy quite successfully breaks this mould but doesn`t offer `stunning` DVD playback, respectable but not stunning. For £250 though its an absolute BARGAIN, get one now!

The 42%er will no doubt respond and tell you something more worth its salt because he owns/runs a HiFi shop...his opinion is well worth a read, he`ll no doubt be along shortly...........

Indeed I will. Are you looking for a dvd player to just play films or for music aswell? The Kandy range of of kit comes from respected UK company Roksan The dvd player is a very nice piece of kit. with great CD playback and not bad picture repoduction. It is all so built like a brick. We have done loads of the CD player and Hi-Fi amps and not one DVD. At £600 I thought it was a bit to much. But at the price you are talking at it sounds a bargin. Is it new and boxed? Warrenty? Kosha? Can you get hold of the serial number for me and I will check it out for you.

Aha! The infamous 42%er speaks - thanks for your input! Its kosha alright - its from an official dealer. I`m looking for a dvd player that can also handle audio aswell. I listen to CD`s on my Sony NS300 as well as watch films, so as far as the Roksan being `not bad picture reproduction` it probably will be miles better than the Sony! Music is more important, as I`m running it through a denon amp so I`m looking for quality. Its a toss up between the Roksan at £250 or a Denon 2200 at £450. The Denon, I`ve read about and it has had some good reviews. What do you think?

They are both very good bits of kit but for music play back I would go for the Kandy.

pps. Cheers for the advice on the acoustic energy speakers Andy, they sound absolutely awesome partnered with my Marantz 5300 and Technics DVD A10!!!

Back in the New Year Sales, EmpireDirect had the 2200 in Champagne/Gold for £176. Unfortunately by the time I had got around to checking on the 2200 and realising that the RRP was £600 odd, they had sold out...Devastated!!!! >:(

Good luck on the Kandy toffeeslot, I`d ask you to e-mail me the URL if I had the cash (and you didn`t mind of course) but alas my `spare` cash is long gone :(
