i have tried to record my region 1 dvds from my player to video but can only get a black and white picture. The picture is fine and so is the sound im not sure if it is macrovision or not because when i got my player chipped i think it had it removed so i am not sure if it is this or my video player not being able to record ntsc. Can anybody help me with this.
Sounds like you are not converting to PAL50
Black and white pictures can also be caused by incompatible Scart sockets (or Scart modes). Try switching the Mode from RGB to Composite, and/or try using a different Scart socket (If your video has a second scart). (Note: not all Scart sockets are the same - some support RGB and some don`t).
NiVZ.
P.S This does not sound like a Macro problem as it affects the brightness of the colour picture by increasing and decreasing it repeatedly so that it is impossible to record.
P.P.S Have you tried recording a R2 DVD to Video through the same setup?

Yes and region 2 dvds work fine so that is what made me think that it is something to do with my video player not being able to record ntsc
