Page 1 of Gladiator R1 on Sammy 709

I`ve noticed while playing Gladiator R1 on my Samsung 709 the picture looks a bit "pixelated" and kind of computer generated at times, I know there`s a lot of computer generated scenes in the film but it`s not them that are at fault. The problem is noticable at the very start of chapter 14 when the picture fades from blur to Ceasars face the blur and fade looks like a PC set on 256 colours. Can anyone help.

Simply exchange the disk from where you bought it.
Looks like a problem with the disc.
Are there any scratches or fingerprints on the DVD disc ?

Actually I believe this is a problem with the player.
Simply exchange the player from where you bought it (for something else).

I thought this forum was for constructive help not something to flame individuals encountering problems with their DVDs and not for ponces like yourself. Grow up and go somewhere else to get your cheap laughs.

Actually Sammy, in the UK they have done a re-issue with Gladiator
owing to player compatibility problems with R2 versions of the movie.
Firstly, change your copy for a newer version of the disc, if it is not already the new version.
If you still have the problem then it could well be the actual player.

I wasn`t flaming anybody you just took it that way. And after you`re misleading post I decided to intervene and give some proper advice, i.e. to me it sounded like a problem with the player.

my cheap laughs come from reading the crap you right, so while you`re here, that`s were I`ll be!

Actually s*** for brains those issues were with the second disk - if you could actually read you`d notice that the problem was with the movie - that`s disk 1 if you`re finding it hard to work out. As far as I know there were no major isssues with the first disk, that`s why I suggested the player might be at fault - because I`ve seen the same disk play perfectly with one player and pixellate on another.

Sorry folks I didn`t mean to start an argument!

I have already tried the disc on another player, I have a Cyberhome ADN-212 as well and it plays fine on it. I was using the RGB output on the 709 so i`ve set it to S-Video and it seems to have cured the problem. My TV can handle an RGB signal before anyone suggests that as a problem.
But I have come across another glitch, lip sync problems with Snatch on the 709!! Any suggestions??

Hay DazBS, no worries mate you didn`t start the argument! You soon realise some people are just too eager to turn everything you say into one though.

Glad you solved your problem, although I can`t help you with the lip-sync one. Again I think this problem might be down to the player as it doesn`t seem to be a problem with other players.

I don`t know anything about the Sumsung 709 but you seem to be having a few probs with it! So I`d leave your options open if I was you ;-)

I know what you`re saying but up until now the 709 has done me good. Top notch picture & sound easy to hack. From what I can gather it`s a first generation player and is up to it`s limit when playing new discs. When I bought it there weren`t, to the best of my knowlege, any "cheap" chinese players on the market so it was the best budget option at the time. We all need to move on I suppose.

Yeah man that really sucks (that`s my american impression for the day!).

It`s beginning to feel like the PC state of affairs. i.e. "oh my DVD player is too old it can`t run the latest DVDs!".

They should sort it out, I don`t know the ins and outs of it all but they should have a rigid standard that the discs and players should adhere too, then there wouldn`t be so many problems.

I did the review of Snatch on a 709, and it was more than fine. Perhaps a faulty disc?
