Picture does not fit on screen

jrw1971 (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 22nd February 2004, 14:07

I have Sky+ connected to a Panasonic 32inch widescreen TV. The picture at the top and the bottom runs off the edge of the screen slightly. Most of the time it is not noticable mainly when text is at the base of the picture. I`m not sure if this is a problem with the Sky+ set up or just a problem with the TV. Anyone know if there is anything that can be done to solve this?

You should set your TV to 4:3 if you haven`t already done so. This means there will be black bars on each side, but you picture will be the correct aspect ratio and there should be no overscan, or whatever you call it.

Although if you are watching stuff that is broadcast in widescreen then I don`t know?

Even when the TV is set to 4:3 the picture cuts off at the top and bottom of the screen.

Are you sure you`re not in "Super Live" mode or equivalent?

Go into picture settings (Sky) and make sure that the picture format is set to 16:9 and that your TV is set in "Wide" mode. Although Panasonic usually detect and adjust accordingly.
