Page 1 of MP3 DIRECTORY STRUCTURE

Can anyone tell me what I`m doing wrong. Whenever I burn a CD-R with MP3 files I can only ever create a directory structure one level deep (ie all directories are moved to the root directory and contain no subdirectories).
I`ve tried using Nero and EZCD wth no success.

No Idea - if I drop a structure onto EZCD it keeps it - do you mean that the actual CD is flat or is it the Scan that renders it so. What format CD is it? Regualar vanilla ISO thingy?
The way that the Scan (V208) appears to work is that it searches for sub directories and then places them all one level deep together with the ROOT directory. So you can`t use an Artist1\Album, Artist2\Album structure. If you can blow a CD and then view it with your PC Explorer then it should be OK. The Scan is quite clever in ignoring all non mp3 files.
Who need Album collections anyway? Ditch the tracks you don`t like - there are always some, and compile in a flat structure all the tracks you do want. Then use Shuffle for a 12 hour favourite jukebox.
I want to have a directory for each artist, then a directory for each album. So if I look on a PC you see ROOT then a dir for each artist, and then a dir for each album. I burn it and it looks ok on the PC, but when I put it in the Scan all I see is a list of the Album dirs (ie the Artist dirs are missed out and all Album sub-dirs are moved up to the root.)
I`ve used Nero and EZCD, but get the same result.

It doesn`t matter what CD S/W you use. This is a feature of the current Scan configuration. It may use this structure because there is such a limited screen available to display directiry structures - TV`s are not good for this function. Perhaps when long filename are addressed, the full directory structure can be viewed as burnt onto the CD. At least the current method allows you to view all directories.
Thanks for all the info Gary. Have to wait and see what happens with the long filenames then Nelley is away "kicking Korean butts" as we speak with this feature, and the re-enabling of SVCD`s.
