I have seen this mentioned a few times on this forum so what is it ?and is it any good for recording from sky. :/

Its bascially the same what the sky plus box does, It was an early format that came out but didnt really take off for some reason. It is more popular in the states. It seems that sky plus has conered the market at the moment.

But if you`re looking for free-to-air recordings then go for the PaceTwin hard disc recorder.
No subscription, no satellite disc, broadcast quality digital widescreen recordings, live pause etc.

But if you want to record a full range of programmes,including movies in 5.1,subscription service of course,then Sky+ offers simultaneous recording of 2 different satellite channels,watching and recording 2 different satellite channels at the same time,using your digibox as normal while it records in the background unnoticed,5.1 sound.Tivo offered none of these features.
