Is it my speakers fault? HELP PLEASE!

Carlito (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 16th February 2001, 16:10

Over the last few days, the picture on my tv has become very poor.

Basically, I am seeing (depending on what I am watching) colour distortion coming in from the sides and corners.

My Eltax C205 floorstanding speakers are 1.5m approx away from the tv.

Could they be the cause?

I have had them for a couple of months now, and the problem only started up very recently.

If so, other than move them further away (I am struggling for space!), what can I do?

Cheers

It certainly sounds as though it is the speakers, particularly if they are not magnetically shielded, though it is odd the problem has only just begun to appear.

Apart from moving them further away, the only other option I can think of would be to have the set de-gaussed by a service engineer, but that could be expensive.

De-Gaussing is lieterally running an anti-magnetic wand around the telly!
Should only be the cost of the call out charge..HOWEVER..
most TV sets "shunt" a few thousand volts through a TV when switched on from TOTAL power off (not standby), which basically does the same thing.

I would say the speakers are causing the fault too, and moving them away a little further should cure the problem.

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!
