Samsung DVD-V70 Combo unit - HELP!

scapes (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 23rd November 2003, 03:16

Hi all,
I just recently bought this unit. I bought a combo unit thinking that one of their main functions was to be able to copy DVD to VHS. Some players I`ve seen even have a `1 touch copy` button. But I can`t figure out for the life of me how to make this machine do it. Can anyone offer advice? :/

Absolutely no way on this earth you`ll be able to copy DVDs to VCR with this unit, due to Macrovision copy protection, which is built into the circuitry.

The "one touch" option you`re thinking of probably relates to a feature available on some DVD recorders, I`m afraid :(

Thanks.
I`m starting to think I might try to return it if I can get a refund. Depends on the storepolicy - I`ll try phoning tomorrow. Do other brands not have this copy protection?

All combi DVD/VCR units have the protection.

Probably better off buying a cheapo DVD that is VCR friendly and a cheap NICAM VCR.

You can return the goods within 7 days if you change your mind - it`s your right. Any more than that you may have aproblem...

Just to let you know, I did some searching last night and quickly found a combo unit with the 1-touch-copy button. But it noted that it only works for disks without copy protection! Spoilsports! ;)
