I was wondering if the Panny E50 can record on DVD-RW. I know that I could use RAM, but these disc are incompatible with my laptop.

No the Panasonic E50 won`t record onto DVD-R/W. I also have the Mico 311 & the DVD+RWs it makes will not play in my laptop. I was thinking of putting 2 or 3 DVDs onto one DVD+R/W & then taking 3 DVDs with 9 films on, on holiday should the weather be bad I would have a bigger choice with less discs. The DVD-R/Ws that my Pioneer 105 (on my computer) make also will not play on my laptop. My laptop is only just over a year old & came with DVD player/CD writer. I have used a programme called DVD-LAB to convert DVD-RAM to DVD-R & that does it very quickly & easily.
JVC do a DVD-RAM, DVD-R/W & DVD-R recorder. If your laptop will play DVD-R/W or DVD+R/W then I would get the Panasonic E50 record onto RAM then edit on RAM then transfer to DVD-RW. It is easier than you may think.

My laptop is a Hewlett Packard of 1 year old.It plays DVD+R/RW and DVD-R.Don`t know about RAM.
The only DVD-RW recorder in the budget arena so far is the Sony.
