Faulty Toshiba DVD Player

I purchased a Toshiba SD230E Player from Digital-Point retailer on wednesday.
It arrived this morning (Friday), I switched it on and then tried it out with Pianist DVD - after about 2 minutes the player just died, no power no nothing and a burning smell from the player.

I phoned Toshiba helpline which is included with manual, and were very helpful and said they will send out a new player on tuesday...watch this space.

Would like to hear from anyone who has had problems with Toshiba DVD players.

I bought a SD110E from Currys 18 months ago with 2 years extra warranty. I sold
the player to my next door neighbour, and bought a multi region Sony DAVS300.
Last month, he told me that the volume and the front display had gone AWOL.
I went round to see if I could help but it was no use. So off we went to Currys
who repaired the player within 2 weeks. They had to replace a capacitor which
cost them £3.84. If I hadn`t took out the extra warranty it probably wouldn`t have
been economical for us to get it fixed.
