I have 4 year old Kenwood 999D AV amp which is listed as Digital Dolby compatible, but no mention of DTS. Since my DVD player (Sony) can output a DTS stream is there anyway (short of buying a new amp) of getting my amp to recognise DTS instead of DD. Is there an external DTS decoder for old amps like mine. The amp has both optical & co-axial inputs.

Denon do a dts decoder AVD-1000 take a look at this site for a review www.homecinemachoice.com/testbench/index.html your amp will need to have 5.1 input to conect the decoder also if your amp is not Dolby Digital already you will be better of getting a new amp which can do both sound formats good luck hope this helps
