SCAN SC2000 & AV6 Problems & Thoughts
I was wondering whether all SCAN owners are getting the same problems, or whether some have one type of problem, others another type etc. The problems I have which have not been fixed by flashing up to version 2.08 for both the DVD Player and the Amplifier are as follows:
SCAN SC-2000
1) Inability to accept or play some audio CD`s, seemingly due to the length of recorded material.
2) Picture to bright, or brightness level too high.
3) Pixellation or artefacts appearing in some dark or contrasting images.
4) Sound goes, but then comes back (might be amp, see below 3)
5) If you pause a movie and then play again sometimes the sound is out of synch.
Scan AV6
1) When playing audio CD`s, first few seconds of sound doesn`t come through speakers until amp sorts itself out on whether it needs to use a decoder or not.
2) Dolby Surround setting has a fraction of a second delay compared to the TV which I am using as centre channel so it sounds like you`re in a cavern.
3) Sound goes off, but will come back after a few seconds, its like the auto-switching got confused and switched to dolby digital then realised it shouldn`t have. (might be player, see 4 above)
Where I am a little confused is that the firmware update is a software upgrade to the internal EPROM of the machine. If some players don`t suffer a problem and yet others do, which can`t be resolved by a software upgrade, then it must be the hardware at fault?
Some people may not know they have problems with theirs, if they don`t try to play CD`s with lengths exceeding 60+ minutes, they think high-brightness and pixelation is normal, well, its possible...
And have some people had success in flashing the firmware, where problems such as the ones above have disappeared?
I know of one other problem, the blue halo or glow around some images that I don`t think I am experiencing. Any people getting any other problems which aren`t mentioned above?
Just wondered.....
