Page 1 of Wiring a sub up which is best
Hardware Forum
Hi all , I have a DSP-A5 and currently putting in hidden wiring for my system thinking of getting a yammy sub yst 320 . Which would be the best way through the pre-out or front speaker cables to sub then on to speakers? Does the pre-out level alter in line with the amp volume ?
if using pre-out will it cut the lower frequencies to the fronts ?
Is there any major difference in sound?
Mny thanks Matt
RE: Wiring a sub up which is best
Iv`e gone via the pre out so I can adjust the
subs volume by remote. You can switch the
lower frequencies in `set menu` selecting
sub w only, main speakers or both. It all
depends on your speaker setup.
I`ve also got a DSP-A5, and if my memory serves me correctly
there are 2 sub-outs.
One of these is used both for LFE (DVD) and when playing HiFi, I don`t know about the other one though.
However, to me at least, it would seem that the best way to wire up your sub is to use one of these outputs (at least if you have an active sub, or a spare poweramp).
Regarding x-over for mains speakers I cast my vote in favor with "cinemanomore", personally I`ve chosen a setup where the LF-signals are fed to sub as well as main.
Cheerio
Thanks Great Help, I`m running missions 701`s on stands at front 700 rear wall mounted and a Jamo centre soon to be replaced with a mission centre from the same series. Thanks again Bye
