FAO: Clays or Kuat (or any technical minded person)

Regarding the instructions you gave me yesterday about linking my DVD to TV, OnDigital and video, it still doesn`t work. Whatever I put throught the AV2 on the TV, whether it be the DVD or OnDigital, it turns the picture black and white with lines across it. Do you have any idea what this could be?? Is it worth paying out for a s-video to scart lead when it might not work?? (it does mention in the TV instruction booklet, that the AV1 is the RGB and AV2 is for the s-video or camcorder)

Then it should have S-enable on AV2, which has been already set to S-video from the sounds of your problem.

Try resetting it to "AV2" or "Composite" or whatever else the menu options are. That should cure the problem.

I`m unaware of any TV that has S only on any of it`s inputs.

(and I`ve been selling them for over 10 years now! lol)

Thanx, but a bit of clarification needed:

What needs re-setting??
Do you mean put the scart from AV2 on TV to the AV2 on DVD player??

One s-video to scart adaptor. On the dvd menu select s-video output and plug the scart end into
av2 (back of tele) Then your tele menu select digital source(maybe
on your set.)

NO STU!!!

Just use the "Menu" on your TV to change the setting for AV2 on the telly.

By the sounds of it, AV2 is currently set to SVideo, it should have the options of "Composite" "line in" or "AV", set it to one of these.

Tell me the telly and the model and I`ll try to find out the exact steps for you.
Don`t buy any more leads, you don`t need them!!

??? Jimbo, would you not agree s-video carries a better picture
than scart-scart.

Yes I would Cinema, but thats not the subject in question in the thread!

However, it would be another easy solution to the problem!

Stu - Jimbo is right. It sounds as if it`s one of two things :

(1) when your On is connected to AV2, have you set the OnBox to output an RGB signal ? If so, set the OnBox back to composite (if the OnBox sends out an RGB signal to a SCART socket expecting an S-video signal you`ll get a black and white piccy)

(2) your television needs to be told that AV2 is a normal `composite` SCART socket, and not an S-Video one - similarly, your TV needs to be told that AV1 is an RGB socket (ensure your DVD is also outputting an RGB signal from its SCART socket - probably in your DVD set-up menu somewhere).

Hopefully your telly manual isn`t written in Chinese, so it should be easy to do (he said, still trying to get to grips with the bollox masquerading as instructions in his Sanyo widescreen manual !)

thanx everyone, much appeciated!!

I managed to get it to work with the scart from AV1(DVD) to AV2 (TV) by changing one of the menus in the settings on the DVD player from Composite to S-video!!

I still might give the S-video to scart a go to see if it gives an even better picture (although it`s looks fine as it is, I might as well have the best picture I can).

What would I have done without you lot!! I certainly wouldn`t have asked in any shop round here, as they don`t know their arse from their elbow!!!
