SCAN SC2000 macro disablement

DP (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 21st January 2001, 19:55

I bought an SC 2000 in August 2000. All I`ve done so far is change it to multi region. Is there a simple command string to disable the macro protection on this age model ?

Not entirely sure that your model can defeat the macro that easily/ i am in the ame position with a Toshiba and am thinking of exchanging it.

Seems that a hardware hack is your best option.

I have a newer SC2000 and I haven`t hacked it yet so on that front I can`t help.

however, I did have a Daewoo machine before (pretty much the same as the older Scans`) and the macrovision options came up at the end of the secret region choosing menu which is enabled with the handset hack

no disk in drive, power off, power on , OPEN,SETUP,SHUFFLE,STEP,NEXT

Kuat,
How do you compare the Scan to the Daewoo ?
i.e. Picture Quality (Pixellation) Sound e.t.c.

Any good ? Please let me know.
Thanks

Jaxon

I have bought mine in September and in the secret menu, if you scroll down, there is an option Macrovision AUTO/OFF - just turn it off there

Jaxon,

Night and Day mate.

The Daewoo was utter rubbish as far as the picture quality went - pixellation all over the shop.

I did have reservations that the improvents to the chipset in the Scan would not go far enough to curing this, but I am glad to say I am entirely happy with the picture.

The sound is fine but I`ve not really given it a full workout through my stereo yet, but the 28" widescreen Hitachi does just fine
