Freeview STB - 2 Scart sockets - recommendations please

Fitz (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 30th July 2003, 12:05

Am thinking of replacing my old Philips/OnDigital steam driven STB which is frustratingly slow and lacks any "panache". Does anyone out there have any recommendations please ? Would much prefer something with 2 scart sockets and some form of EPG. This must have been posted before, but I couldn`t find anything relevant. Thanks.

Take a trawl through the Digital Spy forum here:

However, my personal preference is the Netgem iPlayer. Fantastic bit of kit.

We have the Thomson one, and have been pleased with it. First one tended to lock up once or twice a day, and needed switching off and on again. Got it replaced, and the new one I think has only locked up once in 2 months or so..

I have the Thomson DTi1000 too and I`m very pleased with it. I`ve had it ~3 months and I`ve only had to reset it 3 times.

I am also looking for a good Digital Box, the Netgem keeps coming up in the forum, but I was also considering the Nokia 221T and the new Samsung box that is often mentioned.

Any more suggestions would be great.

And by the way, what is EPG and what does it do?

EPG means Electronic Programme Guide. All it does is show what programmes are on and when. Similar thing as with Sky.

The EPG on the GDB2 is really good - nice clear graphics and you see 6 channels at a time!! :)
