Nelley from Scan - Look in here please!

Blagger (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 19th January 2001, 19:49

You have promised me a firmware upgarde (EEPROM) 3 times now and promised me that it was being sent by mail that day!
Where is it?

I know the new firmware files are out but can I use them on my machine?
The menu that you go into doesn`t seem to have all the needed info and it doesn`t like the disk either (burnt with Mode2/XA)

Can you tell me how to upgrade - or even if the upgrade will solve the subtitles problem!

Come on man - actually answer me this time please...........

Blagger.. If you purchased your machine before the 26th October and have a firmware version lower than 1.64, then you can`t upgrade your machine.

My machine was purchased 01/11/2000 with firmware version 1.64.
I am now running firmware version 2.08 with no problems..

I always burn my CD`s as Mode 1 CDROM-XA format with the firmware file in the root directory. Also use CD-RW so I dont waste any CD-R

I think it`s a case of suck and see at your own risk with the firmware.....
I have firmware versions 180, 187, 192, 193, 204, 204s, 208

If you want a particular copy email me at divad.www[at]ku.oc.evreseerf.kilwag

I know about not being able to flash my chip BUT Nelley promised me a new EEPROM which would replace it and obviously be flashable with a newer firmware on it.........

So - still no reply from him then..

I had an old scan with subtitles problems and was supposed to be send an EEPROM. It took ages for them to send one, but they ended giving me twice the same one (there is two EEPROM to change), then it took even longer to send the correct one so eventually got a pick&drop.

I`d try that if I was you as the EEPROM does NOT make it flashable, you`ll have exactly the same scan as now, just without subtitles and the Scart problem.

Thanx Peg

The funny thing is that I have the Subtitles prob but not the scart one!!
There are so many different versions of the earlier scan it`s unreal!

There customer service and technical staff are both bollox - they should be f***ing ashamed of themselves.

BTW
Still no reply from Nelley - what a shocker eh?
