Anyone got a Panasonic 32 incher?

rockysafc (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 12th June 2003, 19:26

Just seen the TX32PL1 for £650 with a five year guarantee and was wondering of anyone out there had any opinions on this model. I have to get me a widescreen telly soon.

Rocky..

I have the 32" PL1, had it nearly a year, good picture. Great with RGB interface. Only prob is NTSC slightly to the left... But using the engineer interface you can adjust PAL/NTSC setting seperatly so it works good..

I paid £780, so not a bad price mate.

What spec are you after?
Go for a set that has switchable 100Hz/Progressive Scan capability.

Also do you require Dolby Digital built in which would also include the extra speakers?

I have the 36" TX36PG50 and am very happy with as it gives great performance.
My parents have the 32" TX32PB50 and that is very good too. (Best price £919.98 from www.electricaldiscountuk.co.uk)

Debenhams advertised the 36" TX36PB50 for £1199 in the papers last week. Might be worth going to your local store to check it out.

The deal for the TX32PL1 you found is very good though to include 5 year guarantee. Best price I could find with standard 1 year guarantee is £605.84 inc p&p from empiredirect.co.uk. A very decent set although remember its 50Hz Nicam only. Here`s some reviews:-

Cheers for the replies guys` (well the last two anyway). From what I`ve read on these forums it seems to be debateable which give the best results between 50/100Hz. Is the progressive scan used with the seperate component out on some DVD players. My LG hasn`t got these connections. I`m not worried about the sound as much as have a Sony HTK215 amp. Can`t imagine for a second that the missus will tolerate a 36" screen so it sounds as if the 32" will have to be good enough. This offers also appeals due to the 5 year guarantee which could save a few pounds in repairs if the worst happened.

Thanks again,
Rocky..
