Panasonic HS2 & series of queries on defeating copy protection

I m very tempted to buy a HS2. Anyone put a larger HD in their one yet ?

Does anyone know when the improved model with a 80Gig disc is coming out, there is no mention of it on the Uk panasonic site ?

If I want to back up a commerical DVD, on the HS2 I understand the process is not as simple as loading it onto the HD and then burning it.

One cannot simply connect a DVD player to the HS2 via the scart to enable a recording ? Is that right ?

Assuming so, are there any UK DVD players one can buy retail which can be hacked without opening the box up to play DVDs down the scart lead to the HS2 without the copy protection signals?

Would the simplest solution be to buy a lead or box which defeats macrovision and DCSS (Something like that anyhow), etc ?

If so who sells the best value one ? What`s its model name and number ? All the sites I ve visited seem a little circumspect when describing what is removed by the lead for reasons their lawyers must be better aware of.

How does dual layer product impinge on the copying process to a dvd R?

Is there anything else I should be aware of.

Essentially, what I want to achieve is an idiot proof system to back up films without having to revert to soldering irons or time intensive PC software solutions even if that means It suffers from some drawbacks.

Would the lead solution work with VHS tapes prima facie too ?

Once I a copy via a lead to the HS2 on a DVD R would that then be copyable on the HS2 up to the HD ?

Thanks.

Ooops, finally is Play generally the best value supplier for films ? Or have I missed a trick ?
