Bye Bye Alba 103 - What next????

Sex Pest (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 4th January 2001, 17:19

I was given an Alba 103 for xmas and was delighted until I actually watched my first dvd. As mentioned on other postings on this site this picture is terrible - like watching tv through frosted glass on a foggy day. Had numerous other problems - RGB won`t send correct signal to tv and brand new discs take upto 10 attemts to load - no disc, no disc, no disc etc etc.

Anyway it`s going back tonight so what do i buy in it`s place?
The Aiwa sounds good but is in short supply and I don`t want to wait

Any suggestions of good players sub two hundred quid welcome.

Cheers

I would suggest trying to get hold of an AIWA 370 either by contacting your local COMET stores or trying their website as it is definitely worth the wait. I recently took back a Wharfedale 750S with brightness problems and have now got an AIWA 370 which is much better picture quality (especially for R1) and for MP3 playback (Great On-Screen Menu!).

i also had an alba and got rid of itdue to numerous probs, i now have a lecson 900 which is very good in both sound and vision and would recommend this particular player £179 from debenhams only drawback is slightly loud drive mechanism which can be heard during quiet parts of movies.
there are loads of other players out there this is only my opinion based on what i have had , hope it helps
