Scart Problem

evx (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 3rd January 2001, 01:47

I`ve got a samsung DVD-511 DVD player and i`m having trouble with my scart connection.

When i plug in the scart lead to the tv all the way i get waves accross the middle part of the screen.

I have moved the plug around in the socket and that has virtually eliminated the problem but becuase the scart cable is loose in the socket the plug either falls out after a while or even a slightest tap on the tv send the picture funny.

Would you say it could be the fault of the player of something else? does anyone else get these problems

Also does anyone else get a grainy picture in the background of the dvd becuase i do, that was the reason i bought a proper dvd player opposed to a pc one becuase i thought it would eliminate this but obviously not.

Does everyone get this or is it just me becuase the foreground is fine it`s just the background that is grainy.

Hi there evx
First things first, is the problem with the scart cable or the scart input? Resolve this by trying your scart on other devices i.e. video and if the problem persists then it must be your tv or scart lead, now you said your scart keeps falling out of the tv, well this can be resolved by crimping the scart slightly( do this of your own back ) but if this helps get a new scart, if not then your tv input is done, this is where it gets tricky.
to fix this I would suggest getting an expert but if you feel confident with a soldering iron you could open up your set and get into the scart ( remember electricity dosn`t like people ) and this again you do off your own back.
