TV problem ***Please Help!***

My TV is a JVC 24" Widescreen. I`ve had it for 3 years and today I noticed that there is a line going right down the screen. It is located about 3/4 to the right. It is yellow in colour and has a tail that scans across to the left. It is VERY noticable when the TV is showing dark images. I am wondering if this could be because I have a speaker located on the top of my TV. I bought my amp last July and there has been no problems at all up until today. It was DEFINITELY not there yesterday. I have removed the speaker from the top of my TV.

The line is at worst when I put the TV on. I can remember reading something thats says if there is a problem due to speakers turn the TV off and leave it for 24hrs and the magnets in the TV will fix themselves (it was a little more detailed and specific than this).

I really hope this isn`t the begining of the end for this TV because I love it to bits and can`t afford another one.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

If the speakers have damaged your screen you would more than likely have a blurred area on your screen as oppose to a vertical line. This sounds more like a TV error than your speaker.

Was the speaker "shielded" from magnetic interference. If yes, then it can`t be that!

If an unsheilded speaker has been next to your TV for a long time, switching it off and allowing the screen to degausse wont cure it as it will probably be irreparably damaged.

But again due to your description of the LINE i dont think it is speaker related.

On looking at it again, the reason I saw a line is that it ENDS in an almost straight vertical line close to the right hand side of the screen, but the "yellowness" is strongest where it ends and fades across to the left. This isn`t moving, it just on the screen. But it is still a line.

The speakers I used said they were magnetically shielded and SAFE to place on a TV. I think the Speakers instruction manual was the place that told me about the "demagnetizing" so one wonders...

I can`t honestly believe that it is a speaker problem, because in 8 months its been fine and tonight its got a big problem.

Now I`ve just noticed that the longer I leave the TV on, the less severe the line is. I`m following the "demagnetizing" procedure so I`m not leaving the TV on that long. I hope to God it works because this is the TV that is most used.

I was looking at this and the line disappeared completely in an instant, but came back again. After the TV has been on for a while its not very noticeable and is much less severe than it was last night.

I`m wondering if maybe something inside the TV is loose and causing interference, because I`m 100% sure that its not the speakers.
