Finally got a 440Sli to replace my Scan 2500.
Tried a variety of different discs R1, R2, SVCD, DVD-R, MP3`s, Photo
CD`s
All played back without problems, The machine did hang once on a CD-
R, which meant i had to power off the DVD Player from the mains and
then eject.
The MP3`s menu is better than the SC2500 in that in shows the folder
and track names, well only 8 chars but it`s better than D1, F1 that
the scan 2500 used to show!!!
The only problem is with displaying JPG`s on a CD-R. The picture
quality is pretty bad and a lot of the JPG`s i had on the CD
wouldn`t show up. I think this must be a maximum file size problem
as the ones i was using were all 1600 x 1200 and around 300k to 1.2
mb depending on the picture contents. The 300k ones worked but not
anything bigger than >~640kb
Apart from that the player is well worth cost of £99
If anyone finds a firmware update to fix the JPG slideshow, please
let me know!
Thanks
Mark
Glad to hear that Mark. As I said before the Scan DVD players are great...when they work. Just a shame about the shoddy customer support behind them.
Cheers, I know what Scan customer support is like !!!
One thing i didn`t mention is R1 Discs look really fuzzy when played through this player, same as the scan 2500. I can`t believe that my four year old Samsung 709 plays R1`s in better quality than this!
Ah well.
Their still working on the jpeg problem.Your r
Your r1 dvds shouild not be fuzzy.Set the tv output to NTSC so a pure ntsc signal somes out.Setting it to pal means ntsc is bieng converted to pal and there is some degradation of quality.Use RGB at all times if possible.

Hi
Have they released a firmware upgrade to resolve this problem now?
If so do you know where i can get it from?
Thanks
Email yelsew[at]ku.oc.nacs requesting the new 440lsi firmware. It does overcome the file size limitation on jpegs.
