Any good budget players in the supermarkets?

Deaks (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 28th January 2003, 14:36

I wanted to pop out this evening and get a new player, is there anything good in Argos, Asda, Tesco, Safeway, Sainsburys etc.. at the moment?

I obviously want multi-region, but I`m also looking for something that will play vcd/svcd/dvdr etc..

I`ve recently bought a Pacific 1002 player from Asda (69.83 BP) and it plays everything- v.easy hack + 100 day money back guarantee/3 year guarantee. I think the quality is very good, especially 4 70 quid!

Theres a Mico one in Sainsburys for £70. Not a bad player really, but it has a really sensitive laser that will skip or pause at the slightest disc imperfection.

Bought the Pacific from Asda last night. Good so far, played svcd and vcd no problem, plus a dvdr of Automan(!) episodes. It failed at an RCE disk I put in but then I can just set it as R1 rather than region free to get round that.

Asda give a 28day money back gaurentee so I`ll just take it back if I`m not happy over the next couple of weeks.

another vote for Asda and the Pacific 1002 - a bargain at £69.83 including 3 yr warranty
