DTS or DD 5.1 on Freeview

macbeth (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 22nd January 2003, 21:03

I have Nokia freeview box connected to Yam DSP-E800 with phonos and digital co-ax, the processor is set to select the best audio in order of DTS, DD 5.1 or ProLogic in that order of priority. However so far it goes no further than ProLogic. Am I missing something or is that as far as digital TV goes?

You`re missing nothing - ProLogic is the best you`re going to get on Freeview.

As far as digital TV is concerned, DD 5.1 is only available on Sky Digital, and even then only if you get Sky Plus.

Although dts soundtracks are also in the pipeline for digital transmission at some far-off point in the future

Hi Macbeth,

I also have a nokia freeview box and was looking to connect the digital out into a decoder. Haven`t bought the dd decoder yet as wanted to ensure everything would connect as a I want.

Is this output coaxial then. I have a 221T. Is this the same as yours ?
Why do you need to connect the audio cables too ?

Cheers,
Chris
