I have a wharedale dvd 750s player but i want to get a player with an inbuilt dolby decoder. im gonna get some videologic 500 speakers to go with it. I was thinking about the phillips dvd-634 player cos its only £90 on amazon. Has anyone got any other recommendations or should i go with the philips. And is the philips a worther sucessor to the wharfedale 750s?

It`s the amp that matters if it has a decoder in it as a DVD player with in built decoders is useless if they are not run through an amp. I assume you have an amp, and not through your hifi as it cannot decode digital data, in which case a cheap £80 player is fine. They all have circuitry to send the signal to the amp. It is then the amp that decodes and sends to the relevant speakers.
