Subwoofer dilemma

rambo (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 9th January 2003, 17:22

I currently have quite a small room (18ft x10ft or 5.5m x3m)

In here I have a Pioneer VSX D510 Amp and the Eltax Liberty 5 speaker set.

I am currently looking for a subwoofer to go with this. How much should I be looking to spend, and can anyone recommend any decent subwoofers that would go with this setup in this size room.

Thanks

I can heartily recomend the REL Quake sub, it`s tiny( ten inch square cube) but sounds amazing! I have it in a small room and I absolutely love it. It does cost about £350.00 mind so I don`t know if you want to spend that much. What hifi gave it 5 out of 5 and it`s best buy award.

I`ve been looking around for the same thing and westy recommended to me the Velodyne CHT-10, he says quote:

"Velodyne?? Yes, Velodyne. Though some will kick my ass here for saying it, the Rel subs you mention just sound pants next to the Velodyne CHT-10. For £325, (delivered to your door inclusive of this too), you get possibly the finest `budget` sub on the planet, (blimey, not even budget does this thing justice). I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed in the slightest."

but its a bit big for my small front room and I found whilst searching through old posts that the MJ acoustic pro 50 is highly recommended especially if you read the reviews on their website, and one of those boys cost £299.
