Page 1 of Dolby Digital 5.1 Echo...

Why do some Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks, which contain stereo music, echo? It's seems as if the audio from the front left and right channels leak in to the centre and rear channels.
For example, the music at the beginning of the end credits of Goldmember sounds like it.
Anyone have an explanation for this?
Adam.
RE: Dolby Digital 5.1 Echo...
I know what you mean. I have goldmember too. It is just the way that they are recorded. Don`t forget these soundtracks are for a cinema, and they want it to sound good there. It isn`t a fault becase it is only on certain films. IMO.
Your probably right, but It can sound awful and be very annoying!
Do DTS soundtracks do the same?
Cheers,
Adam.
RE: Dolby Digital 5.1 Echo...
mmm...I get this problem with some films through my Yamaha Processor. If however I turn of any effects, I.e just the clean DTS or DD track it seems to be fine.
Just a thought.
No... my Yamaha receiver is set to standard Dolby Digital, so it is obviously the actual soundtrack and the way it is mixed.

RE: Dolby Digital 5.1 Echo...
It might have something to do with the settings on the amp itself relating to the sound "time delay" between the front and rear speakers - I know my Yamaha amp has these settings though I`m not sure if "time delay" is the proper technical expression (it`s been a long day in work....)
RE: Dolby Digital 5.1 Echo...
its not the amp otherwise everything would echo. It is how the film soundtrack is mixed by the studio, I am 99% sure.
No delays and no special DSP processing what so ever... It has to be the actual soundtrack, but why would they mix it in that way?
If you have a copy of Goldmember, listen to the beginning of the end credits (DD 5.1) and see for yourselves... It would also be interesting to know if the DTS soundtrack is the same.
By the way, I`m only using `Goldmember` as an example.
Adam.
