Problem with sound from my Dolby Prologic surround system
Just wondered if anybody could help me on this. When im playing a dvd and i want the sound to come out of all the speakers i have to pull the scart halfway out so that the audio pins are`nt making contact with the socket properly. Is there another way i could do this?
P.S The only way i have found is to feed the dvd player through the vcr but sometimes the macrovision protection wont allow this!

makes and models would be handy
you are using scart for audio yes/no
what about other audio outs from the player [digital out dts dolby digital]
component audio out.
RE: Problem with sound from my Dolby Prologic surround system
i am using the standard rca connectors as my surround system is just dolby surround (not 5.1) but if my scart (from tv to dvd) is plugged all the way in then the sound only comes out of the centre speaker and not the main speakers and the rear ones. Like i said before if i pull the scart halfway out of the dvd or tv then the surround kicks in and it seems fine. I also have a scart lead that has rca connectors but this seems to do the same. The dvd player is an alba dvd108.

RE: Problem with sound from my Dolby Prologic surround system
this is because you have a mono tv. some mono t.v.`s scart shorts the audio L and R together to make mono. When they are shorted, it makes the whole audio signal in your equipment mono, which makes all sound come from the centre speaker. When you pull the scart part way out, then the audio pins aren`t being shorted, so sound stays stereo. Easy fix would be to disconnect one of the audio pins in the scart. Not perfect, but its the best you can do for now. Good luck
