I bought a multi-region version of this in Bangkok and when I plug it into a TV via a scart socket or the phono plugs the TV volume has to be turned up very high. Can anybody tell me why this is ?

I think this a "feature" of many DVD players (Pioneers in particular). I have the same problem with my 444.
