Page 1 of MiCO Diamante 3000 -Connection Difficulties

Got a MiCO Diamante 3000 for Christmas and came to connect it up but can`t.

Please tell me how to connect up my TV, Video and DVD Player.

Goodmans TV has:
Video (yellow) at front of TV
Audio (white) at front of TV
Scart socket at rear
Ant. socket at rear

Goodmans Video has:
Scart socket
Ant. In
Ant. Out

MiCO Diamante 3000 has:
Scart socket
Video `V` (yellow)
`R` (red)
`L` (white)
`Y` (green)
`Cb` (blue)
`CR` (red)
Coaxial
S-Video
The player came with a lead that has a red, white and yellow connection at either end, and although these will plug into the DVD Player, the TV or Video recorder does not have these.

Please would someone tell me which type of connection I should use and how I should connect the TV, DVD and Video so they all work at their best (Idiot guide style) -HELP

Try yellow on back of DVD player to yellow on TV front. This should get you composite video.
Then white on DVD player to white on TV front (and let the red dangle). This should get you monaural audio; you should now be able to watch discs, although you`ll miss out on half the audio (you may be able to get a simple mixer that will allow you to mix the left and right channels into the mono input on your TV; don`t confuse this with a direct connection- you will cause a short and may will probably damage the DVD player)..

Ignore all the other connectors on the back of the DVD player for now.
This is pretty much the worst-setup athough it`s easy, simple, and you should already have the lead to do it.

Assuming the TV can cope with RGB in, you`d do better to get a 21-wire (aka fully wired) SCART to SCART lead, and connect the DVD player to the TV by connecting SCART (DVD) to SCART (TV).

Then either get a SCART-to-yellow+white RCA lead, and connect the VCR to the TV front inputs. (you won`t be able to record from a DVD, but macrovision will probably scupper that anyway).

Or get a SCART switchbox- Maplin do one for about a tenner (fairly nice black metal box affair; there are others. Possibly talk to the person in your local Tv/audio shop about your situation- they`ll know their products better.); and connect the DVD player to input one, the VCR to input two, and the TV to the output. You`ll have to switch (manually- I don`t know of any automatic switchboxes) between DVD and VCR. (you can try recording DVDs on the VCR, but as I said, macrovision will probably scupper that)

Or, just connect the DVD player to the TV via SCART- leave the VCR connected with the antenna leads- although picture quality when watching video tapes will suffer a little. (can`t record DVDs on the VCR, but see macrovision note above)

Ignore the green/blue/red (Y/Cb/CR) connectors; these are component video for use with really high-end gear. Unless you`re connecting to a digital-capable amp (required to hear DTS discs or DD5.1 discs properly), ignore the digital audio ports (leave the protective cap on the optical digital output). Without connecting a digital amp, you`ll get the downmix provided by the player; you won`t be able to listen to DTS channels on DTS discs, although these should have a stereo audio channel as well, press the audio button to select that (as it says in the manual).
Unless you`re connecting a stereo system to the analogue L and R ports, ignore them too. S-video is also to be ignored- your TV almost certainly doesn`t support it.
