Help for a techno nerd

I want a DVD player but know very little about them. Multi region would be nice but apart from that i have a 28 inch tv with nicam but no surround sound and no intention of getting any. I don`t require many special features, i don`t want to copy dvd to video for example. I want a basic player that sounds good and has a good picture and want to pay as little as possible. I have seen a multi region toshiba sd220 advertised in Richer sounds for around £120, is this a good buy and a good place to get one or should i get a £60 special from Tescos or comet? I have been told to spend upwards of £30 for a quality scart lead, is this necessary? Ease of use is also important, i don`t want to spend hours working out how to use the thing!! I would be grateful ffor any help you can offer.
