scan 204 -> 204s upgrade

jimmya (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 20th December 2000, 13:03

I`ve received the 204s upgrade shortly after I upgraded my scan to
version 2.04. After I burn my CD ROM and put it in the tray as described
in the documentation, I get a blue screen after a while and the the name of the file on the CDR
displayed (TDVD-000.rom) and then the disc ejects. The tray seems
to be "locked" at this point as the open/close button no longer
works.

I`m pretty sure I burnt the CD in the same was as before, but tried as many
combinations of type/name/mode as I could all which had the same
result.

Has anyone else come across this behaviour? Failing that, what settings have other people used for burning the CD-RW?
Thanks,

I`m pretty sure the same thing happened to me on the 204s upgrade. I just put it into standby and it sorted itself out when I turned it back on again.

Yup, same thing happened when I upgraded to 1.93
Just put into standby and then back on again to reset the hardware. It works fine after that.

I managed to get the drawer back, but the problem is that the firware
does no seem to upgrade. When I get to the status menu, it shows
ADV7172000000003 and the version is 204 and not 204s

When I try to use the SETUP-STEP-TITLE-PREV key, nothing happens at
all. I was wondering if the version number is supposed to change
and if anyone has done the upgrade from 2.04 to 2.04s successfully.

Thanks,

That is about right - I went straight to 2.04s and it still showed as 2.04.

The Macrovision is removed straight away with no need to enter the hack (or at least it was on mine) - try taping to your VCR to check it.

Hello Jimmya

Do you have any previous versions of firmware to 2.04 or 2.04s

I installed version 1.80 then 2.04s... Made sure it totally erased version 2.04 with version 1.80.....then I installed the 2.04s version..

Email me on divad[at]ku.oc.evreseerf.kilwag if you want a different version of the firmware....
