while we`re on the cyberhome - every time I play a film the subtitles show and I have to turn them off, the box settings have them off as default (I think)...anyone experienced this?

I`ve noticed the same thing. What i do is that at the start of the disc, i make sure the subtitles are switched off.

Try setting the subtitle default language to zulu (or another obscure subtitle language) in the setup menu of your 528. This will stop any subtitles appearing on your dvds.

or upgrade to 10.01
This eliminates many problems!
