Need help deciding which surround speaker package to buy

inza (Competent) posted this on Friday, 29th November 2002, 09:06

I am in the process of upgrading all of my home cinema kit and having just brought the TV i need desparate help with the speakers. I want to have a sub/sat speaker package as i dont want loads of large speakers clogging the living room up and i want to stand mount them aswell. I am thinking of going for the KEF KHT2005 does anybody know if these are any good, also does anybody have any of these and what are they like. I want them mainly for movies as i already have a stereo in the dining room. The amp that i am thinking of buying to go with a sub/sat package is either the Yamaha 630 or a Sony 555.

Ok Amp wise id go for the Yam 630.

Sat Sub Package - Well the KEF`s are rated VERY VERY Highly however a friend has got a set and i have to say im not very impressed - Hes driving them with a Denon 1602 so in a similar class to the amps you sugest.

If it is mainly for movies the Mission FS1`s are said to be great - im yet to listen myself but are generally a movie only speaker with medioka stereo performance - There the next Gen ( 3 i think ) Flat Panel jobbies so there nice and small. Otherwise id go for the Mission M72 Cinema set. All ALOT cheaper than the KEFS at around £300 a set online.

Thats my 2 pence worth anyway
