DO THEY PLAY VCD`S OR WHAT?
A workmate of mine has a JVC xv (sor5)42, I `ve lent him a couple of vcd`s & svcd`s but he says they wont play and just come up as an audio track with neither picture or sound!!!
They play mint on my HAUS player.
Is there something hes not doing? or is this a player thing?
thanx in advance

If its the player above it should play VCD but no SVCD mentioned?
It could be the VCD`s you have are non-standard bit rate ones? Do you know? Not all can play them?
RE: DO THEY PLAY VCD`S OR WHAT?
I haven`t got a clue about bit rates!, Will I be able to tell using the pc?
which does he need ?
The vcd`s I have aren`t originals , I know that much!!!!! (cd-r)
thanks again
http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcd - Look here for the VCD standard.
There is proberbly another program, but I use TMPGEnc to convert all my videos to Mpeg. This program also has a de-multiplex part (splits the video from the audio) in the tools section of the program.
http://www.vcdhelp.com/sync.htm - shows "tools" in TMPGEnc
If you add the Mpeg video (the file will be in the "Mpegav" folder on the VCD) in de-multiplex it will tell you the bit rates. If not the standard you can re-convert it.
Get back if you need help doing that.
RE: DO THEY PLAY VCD`S OR WHAT?
Perhaps the DVD player just doesn`t support VCD`s/SVCD`s?
