Hi spenny68,

I tried the philips 750 remote hack to make my 880 multi region and luckily it worked 1st time. Before you start with the universal remote you will need to go into the settings menu on the 880 and change the remote controller option from `dvd recorder` to `dvd player` (you can change this back after you perform the hack).
Basically on my `oneforall` remote (oneforall 4 digital) I pressed the device key (aux), held down the `magic` button until the device key blinked twice, then input `0539`. The device key then blinked twice again. Whilst aiming the oneforall at the dvd recorder then pressed `085` on the remote and dashes appeared on the display of the dvd recorder.
I Pressed 121 212 005 255 on the 880`s remote controller (the last few digits will not appear on the display of the 880 but input the full code anyway) and then the play button. `No disc` appeared on the display. Press the power button on the 880 remote to turn the power off and power on after about 10 seconds.
This made my player multiregion.

In order to copy DVDs to the 880, I think the other player needs to have macrovision disabled. I connected a samsung 709 multiregion using a scart and this makes perfect copies. Even from NTSC region 1 discs.

Hope this is of help.

I seem to have the same as yourself Philips 880DVDR and a Wharfedale DVD player. I`ve tried using the standard remote to make it multi region but without success.
I cant my Wharfedale M5 player to play any of the discs I`ve recorded !!
How do you get around the copy protection when trying to record a pre-recorded DVD ???
