Macrovision removers

wellsi (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 5th September 2002, 14:18

Not really a region hack, so I thought I`d post this here.
Transferring some older (home taped!) videos onto dvd-r with the Panasonic DMR-E20 results in the message "Copying of this material is not allowed".
Bit rough, when it`s a home taped video that`s a few years old.
I believe you can buy little units that the leads plug into to strip away the macrovision signal.
Has anyone any experience of these (in the UK)

Cheers,

Ian in London

It won`t be Macrovision causing the problem, I think, it`s more likely to be Copy Generation Management System, a whole different ball game...

"Copy Generation Management System"

I thought that was to prevent digital to digital copying only?

I still think it is macrovision otherwise how would it know to not let you copy a tape from a VCR?
Try another tape, maybe some program or camcorder footage and see it it copies to DVD-Ram disc as a test?

If so then a macrovision remover may help. Just search theses forums as it has been asked a few times before

Hi, i own the equipment you are trying to get hold of.

Its called a Macro Master Video Stabiliser, it costs £30 at least that`s what i paid and you will be able to find more information at www.sonel.com

Good luck.

Hi

One possible think is if your using a digital camcorder and have a soundcard with the digital signal in / out you may have an option about copying that needs turning off [ you may have an option on the camcorder to copy protect thats getting passed on]

bye
