Hello nilesh
As you have probably read in this forum, I have had some CD play back issues on the scan player which I purchased on the 1st November.. i.e. mix mode cd`s.
Can you please email me with the below versions of the sc-2000 firmware
I will investigate this issue to see if its a firmware problem.
Firmware issued with scan players 1st November.
Firmware V191.
Firmware above V192.
Yours faithfully
Mr D.Gawlik

RE: sc-2000 cd audio problems
I upgraded to 1.91 - it didn`t fix the cda problem
Hello Londonbabe..
This is a list of problems I have seen with the sc-2000 player.
You have problems playing any music CD on your machine.
I have problems playing dual format music CD`s on my machine.
Sometimes the sound disappears totally, and I have to power down my
player.
Malcomn McDonald has had problems playing MP3 files, although upgrading his firmware has improved this slightly.
I have received email from other sc-2000 owners confirming the sucess of upgrading to V192 of the firmware with no problems.
Sounds like we may have faulty hardware.
NELLEY what have you got to say to this ?
As Davey was saying above I have problems with playback of the occasional MP3.
There is distortion in the right channel almost like an overload of some sort. It`s always the same files this occurs with and it`s all one`s I`ve downloaded from Napster. Any I`ve ripped myself have been fine (I use AudioCatalyst). I can`t therefore figure out what the common denominator may be.
One of my friends with a Scan has intermittant problems with one particular MP3 file. Sometimes it plays the file ok other times it hangs the player and he has to switch off at the machine (the remote doesn`t work) to reset it.
I don`t think any of this is a hardware problem. I think it`s all software related and with a bit of luck firmware upgrades will eventually cure it :-)
I have firmware 192 by the way.
Malcolm
Hello Malky..
Does your MP3 files which play bad on your scan player work fine on your PC ?
If the CDROM drive which you are ripping the the music from isnt very
good quality, it can cause jitters and jumps, which sound like distortion when playing back MP3 files. If you reduce the speed of the cd reader, this will reduce the risk of jitters/vibration clicking noises.
If the people with problems have all installed V192 of the firmware, then why are people having such varied problems ? doesnt add up, unless they have different versions of hardware..? NELLEY... please reply.
The problem MP3`s play fine on PC.
My system is all SCSI and I haven`t had any probs with any files I`ve ripped. Just downloaded ones.
Hello Nelish..
I installed version 1.80 of the firmware for my player.. and the Dual format
CD`s now work again...
Thankyou..
Must be somethink weird going on in the firmware upgrades.

I think if you upgrade v164 to v192 it causes problems.I think you need
to upgrade v164 to v180 or v188 to v192.

Hello Nelish..
Sounds like the Korean Manufacturing Plant cannot provide a generic firmware update which can upgrade all players with re-programmable eproms.
This must mean that the hardware differs from machine to machine, depending on the batch.
Have you asked the manufacter why this happens ?
The only firmware which works fully on my machine is version 1.80
I have tried other versions 187, 192,193.
