I need a DVD/VCR combi (for cost effectivenes) for use in student digs. I`ve been looking around and seen he following models:
Samsung SV-DVD3E, Sharp DV-NC55H (Soon to be relpaced by by NV-NC65HM), Panasonic NV-VHD1BS, Sanyo HVDX1E, Toshiba SD22VC, JVC JVC-XV1EK.
I`m concened with performance and quality first and foremost. Any advice would be much appreciated and if any are hackable, that would be a help. Thanks.

The Samsung is hackable by the remote - not sure about the rest but would think they need chipped.
I have the Samsung 1E and that is an excellent player, both VCR and DVD give good results.
