Does this mean the end to all multi-region problems is in site...?

I guess we`ve got the manufacturers to thank that for making their player hackable.

Lets hope so! It`s a load of tosh anyway!

Do you think the Beeb are on something ? Maybe Sony/Pioneer/Panasonic/Tosh players can be hacked with a Sky Digital remote (see the picture) ;-)
Very interesting article, but hardly "news" : it`s becoming more and more apparent that DVD players are increasingly multi-regional out of the box : the biggest problem these days seems to be hacking a player to play VCDs : bizarre !!!
Interesting to note that CyberHome got leant on by the DVD Forum : they weren`t alone, as I know of at least one other company that got a nasty fine, and stopped selling their players as multi-region.
Equally so, it`s interesting to note that they have the same approach as a lot of companies : if the home owners can hack their player, more power to their elbow : I should imagine that most of the "lesser known" companies point people in the direction of independent websites like DVD Reviewer (or specialist brand specific sites, like LG Uncovered, The Hitachi Syndicate, Reoc Magic, the CyberHome Help site mentioned in the article, and of course Area 450 !).
So yes : it could mean the end of multi-region hacking, but Macrovision and VCD playback hacking will become harder and harder, I firmly believe :-(
