I need a definative answer: Can the Sony DAVS300 play CDR/CDRW`s?

Hi
Ive asked many times the same question, but i never get a definate answer.
Some say some CDR brands work, others say any CDRW. Others say that it cant play either because its not "dual layered"( whatever that means ).
I want to play VCD`s and Audio WAV files. Ive tried Vivastar, Phillips, and Plain black disks( All recommendations ) and i get the same answer from my machine " No Disk ".
Please can someone help, im seriously thinking of getting rid of this system which is excellent apart from the fact it cant play CDR/W.

have you read on www.vcdhelp.com to see what disks are reproted to work on this unit ? also start burning at X1 and increase to find how fast you can burn with success ,
