quite a funky looking player from Sony I think

does it play DVD-R?

seen one for £120 somewhere which aint bad if it does play DVD-R & can be made region free

and I have seen it advertised as multiregion so there may be a remote hack for it too

great lookin player, this machine ,if its the same one is available on unbeatable.co.uk for £125.00,very tempted,especially the dvdr playback!!!!!

Yep It`s the same one, also £140+del at Dixons with £10 discount so £127 delivered ain`t bad, (if it`s in stock)

unbeatable`s price is £133 inc del which is a fiver more, but chances are they are in stock

there is a site selling this player as multiregion,http://www.avland.co.uk/sony/dvppq1/index.htm , so there will be a hack for it somewhere

If you goto http://www.sony.com/psyc you can personalize the insert on the player also

I like the fact I can quickly unplug it and take it upstairs, to my mates just like a CD walkman

- I doubt it (though am happy to be corrected) - all the Sonys I have come across require either a chip mod or a "special" dealer remote (which cost £££££) to make them multiregion. http://www.dvdchips.co.uk might be a good place to find out more.... they don`t list the model under discussion, but I`m sure they can tell you more....

I rang the AV-LAND to see if they would price match £127.49 but no success plus they didn`t have any in stock anyway!

but I asked about the Multi Region and apparently its a remote hack cos I asked if they had opened up the hardware and he said no

I have just checked the link to AV-LAND and it was wrong, just updated it so you can see what it says for yourself, but it definetly advertises its multiregion. (hope it is remote hackable)

I dunno if they have got hold of the `special` remote or not tho, didn`t really give any more info when I asked

the place I want to get it from also didn`t have any in stock, maybe this Friday if not next Wednesday for them

Also asked if it was MultiRegion and was told no, but they may be looking into it
