A lot of DVD players have problems with SVCD`s ranging from intermittant sound loss every few seconds to every few minutes, lipsync or no sound at all. If you are authering your own disk`s try a differant encoder or writing software or possably writing the disks at a slower speed might help.
Macrovision: this is taken from the FAQ in the info section on the left (you should try to read them).

What is Macro vision?
Macro vision is a copy protection system that is commonly applied a vast majority of disks (any region) that offers the effects of causing any attempted copies to have massively varying colour balances and no hold on the picture, rendering copies useless.
Macro vision can also cause problems with some projectors and a few displays.
